She always knew that she was destined to design clothes… It’s the thing that she was longing for, that brings her joy and purpose. Now in Tel Aviv it became a big part of her life. Tel Aviv became the city that provided the fruitful soil for her development and growth. The birth of her brand “Dvarim”, and then orders, customers, online store, the creation of the Market, all of it was inspired by the city in which Ira feels truly at home.

You do not need to be a model to wear her clothes, even the fitting is not necessary. She found a way out. On her site you can indicate the desired length, measurements, color, etc.

Incidentally her home is not only the place where Ira lives with her family but it is also her creative space which happens to be cosy and warm, filled with aroma of deliciously brewed tea and the feeling that you are visiting an old friend.

I watch her jay walk a narrow street near her house. She feels absolutely safe because everything around her is familiar: this is her home. She cheerfully waves at passers-by near City Cafe Florentine and they wave back to her.

City Cafe is one of her favorite places. There is always fresh delicious pastries and great coffee, friendly baristas and a familiar atmosphere that is conducive to a pleasant pastime. I must say that the Florentine is a special place in Tel Aviv. This fashionable district with lots of cafes, bars, art galleries, street art and show-rooms reminds me of New York’s SoHo. Naturally, this is where a talented fashion designer should live.

Ira sits in a chair, comfortably tucks her feet and starts talking. Flicking her fingers she is pointing in one direction or another, talking about different parts of Tel Aviv, about places that are worth seeing. She knows the history of various streets, buildings and people. In all movements, tone of voice, and the mood I can see how well she knows the city.

Ira is not only a designer but she is also an amazing mother of her son Eric. While finishing our coffee, we decide to go together and pick him up from kindergarten. On our way I watch her again: her movements, there is something special in them as well as in everything that Ira creates. No matter where she goes, whether on pedestrian crossing or across the middle of the street, weaving among people or cars, turns into one corner, then another, whether she moves quickly or slowly, it is always completely harmonious in every way. With Eric they laugh in unison, ride a scooter together or in turns, they kiss each other and talk a lot.

On our way we stop by an open air cafe PastaBasta on Allenby where Ira chooses pasta with toppings for herself and Eric.
It seems that everyone knows her here as well and she knows everyone. Unwittingly  I feel safe and relaxed. I am a part of this world, of these people around me, I feel now that I know this city and it suddenly feels like home.

She knows the history of various streets, buildings and people. In all movements, tone of voice, and the mood I can see how well she knows the city.

I believe that the secret is the integrity of Ira’s internal world. Everything around her adds a piece to her harmonious puzzle. She inspires others and is inspired by absolutely simple things: shapes, colors, textures, lines. For example, she looks at the door adoring its color and she already knows how this color will look on certain pieces of her design.

She always knew that she was destined to design clothes… It’s the thing that she was longing for, that brings her joy and purpose.

Speaking of doors. “Dvarim” is the fifth book of the Torah and some of the experts say that the first letter “D” represents the door, exit or path that intended to whom the word Dvarim. All Ira’s collections are deep and simple and at the same time, they can’t be fit into frames and stereotypes. You do not need to be a model to wear her clothes, even the fitting is not necessary. She found a way out. On her site you can indicate the desired length, measurements, color, etc. I’m in love with her every Dvarim and it’s difficult to choose what to order from her every time I do.
