WORDS – Nina Hazhala | Chicago, USA
MOST OF SPRING 2018’s COLLECTIONS SENT A STRONG AND CLEAN MESSAGE: the more traditionally unmatchable pieces you put together in your outfit the better. So it’s time to experiment with mixing colors, shades, patterns, textures, and styles.
I have listed the most popular trends following runway offerings and styled four looks to make them more visual and easy to create in everyday life.
Pattern Clash
DO NOT HESITATE TO PAIR your patterned pieces. Designers went crazy mixing — to make it work and stay on the more stylish side in your outfits this spring, choose pieces that have at least one common shade as the basis for coordination. In this look, we chose a teal-blue base that the bomber and dress have in common.

Mixed Media
FOR THIS LOOK WE CHOSE classic, wide-legged pants in wool, and paired them with a sweatshirt in classic, sexy lace toned down into a streetwear look with athletic cut and details. The Peter-Pan collar on the polka-dot shirt adds a darling feel, and forms a good base for the sheer lace.

Tartan: Plaid and Checked
TODAY, TARTAN, PLAID, AND CHECK seem interchangeable. However, the patterns are different, and each has its own distinct history. For spring fashion it’s important to know the difference — if only to see all of them interchanging and intermixing in one outfit to make a bold fashion statement. This season marks a grand return for these classic patterns.

Simple and somehow unconventional mixes of these colors were everywhere on the runways this season. The colors make for an absolutely harmonious blend on spring days, as they repeat the color palette of our favorite spring blooms.
